
Hi, I’m Emily!
Before embracing plant-based eating in 2020, I spent very little time in the kitchen. What started as a health journey turned into a creative passion. Inspired by a close friend and the science at NutritionFacts.org, I set out to make food using only whole, plant-based ingredients that I genuinely look forward to eating.
I also wanted to ditch refined sugar without sacrificing treats. I started experimenting with date-sweetened recipes and enlisted the “Crissy crew” as my testers. They were happy to help—lucky for me, since I needed them to eat the experiments so I could keep creating! Many of the treats you’ll find here are Crissy crew tried and true.
I created Salty Sweet Vegan to share these recipes with the friends and family who keep asking for them, and to show that whole-food cooking can be simple and appealing for everyone.
